One of those moments in motherhood when the tears just flow - not from disappointment, but from happiness and joy!

I mentioned in an earlier post that E finished up the volleyball season on a high note. I wanted to elaborate a bit more. The actual playing of the game was exciting and strong, but the character and sportsmanship I witnessed was a huge blessing.

After the tournament, the coaches took the parents and players out for pizza. The adults and players were at separate tables, chatting and laughing. Next thing I know, the player's table went silent. I looked over and let out a "Ohh.."

These lovely young ladies (10 in all ) had were holding hands, heads down, and sharing a moment of prayer together. One by one, they went around the table giving thanks to Him.
I turned to one of the coaches and said, "Look."

For a few minutes it was silent. The adults were smiling with tears and the girls were lost in thankfulness and joy. What an incredible scene. I almost took a picture but I thought better of that idea.

Fast forward to Monday evening - the awards banquet. We enjoyed fellowship and food. We exchanged pictures from the season and signed volleyballs. The award portion arrived and one by one, the girls were called up for various accomplishments. Finally, it was E's turn. If it were possible to literally burst with pride, I would have made the news that evening.

Her coach called this award, "The Heart Award" and only one girl receives this award each season. It goes to the girl that shows kindness, love, strength and determination both on and off the court. Our sweet E was gifted with this award. She received a beautiful heart/cross necklace and plaque.

It's no secret - I think my kids are pretty incredible. When it comes to sports, they are my heroes. I admire their grit and talent. They each bring God's gift to light when they play, dance, perform, etc.
But, to receive this award?

Simply awesome.
