Ramblings

A few notes:

1. The garbage disposal does not like, nor tolerate, 2 pounds of asparagus stalks. Trust me on this issue.
2. My otherwise Godly husband does not like asparagus stalks in the the disposal either, as evidenced by a few words he mumbled while fixing the problem.
3. Warn your children about bathroom visits after eating asparagus.
4. Salt Water taffy is a scrumptious, wonderful, tasty treat.
5. Salt Water taffy is not pretty when it ends up on carpet.
6. Finding the 'perfect' spring formal dress should be an Olympic sport. Final outcome? After 30 dresses, 5 stores and sore feet, the dress was located. The special occasion is this Friday. Look for pictures soon.
7. Daddy's have a hard time seeing their teen-age daughter in the 'perfect' spring formal dress.

In memory....

...for those that lost their lives in Virginia today....

Father, please heal the pain. Let your goodness find a window in this tragedy.
I pray for those that lost a child, spouse, friend and co-worker.
Please surround them with your loving arms and whisper words of love and mercy into their hearts.
In Jesus' name
Amen

Books, games and music

If I could only have one CD for a week, this would be it - Buble's "It's Time"

I discovered Chris Rice through the girl's ballet studio, of all places. He has several CD's -- all wonderful.

Wow. Powerful. He tells a story with every song.

I'm reading this book, again. Ladies, pick it up next time you are at the library or bookstore. It will bless you.

This is one of Jeff's favorite CD's. I enjoy it as well.

Jeff is starting this book. I read it several months ago. I appreciate Mr. Lucado's gift for writing in a compassionate, friend to friend way.

We discovered this musical duo at our last church in Idaho. You can't help but get up and dance when these ladies praise Him with song.

This is a super fun game -- perfect for tournament play.

This movie is outstanding!!! What a beautiful message.

Another super movie. It is a bit much for the younger kids but for everyone else, sit back and enjoy this beautifully scripted story of Esther.

What if...

Sometimes you need a song to convey your feelings -- today is one of those times. I feel a deep conviction to pray over our community and nation. Join me.

"What If His People Prayed"
by Casting Crowns

What if the armies of the Lord
Picked up and dusted off their swords
Vowed to set the captives free
And not let satan have one more

What if the church for heaven's sake
Finally stepped up to the plate
Took and stand upon God's promise
And stormed hell's rusty gates

What if His people prayed
And those who bare His name
Would humbly seek His face
And turn from their own way

And what would happen if we prayed
For those raised up to lead the way
Then maybe kids in school could pray
And unborn children see light of day

What if the life that we pursue
Came from a hunger for the truth
What if the family turned to Jesus
Stopped asking Oprah what to do

What if His people prayed
And those who bare His name
Would humbly seek His face
And turn from their own way

If My people called by My name
If they'll humble themselves and pray
If My people called by My name
If they'll humble themselves and pray

What if His people prayed
